Privacy settings explained
Maclip's privacy settings live in Settings → Privacy & Security. Here is each one and what it does.

The settings

| Show Clips in Spotlight Search | Off | Adds clip text to macOS Spotlight. Anything that can search Spotlight can then see it. |
| Keep Secrets Out of Spotlight | On | With Spotlight on, still leaves out clips detected as API keys, tokens or private keys. |
| Fetch Rich Link Previews | On | When you copy a link, fetches the page's public title and image, like iMessage. Off builds the preview from the URL alone. |
| Encrypted Local Storage | Always on | History is encrypted with AES-GCM-256, with the key in your login Keychain. |
| Auto-Blacklist Password Managers | On | Ignores 1Password, Bitwarden, Apple Keychain and anything marked concealed. |
| Auto-Purge Sensitive Data | Off | Deletes clips detected as API keys and tokens after 5, 15 or 30 minutes, 1 hour or 24 hours. |
| Ignored Applications | None | Apps whose copies are never saved. |
What leaves your Mac
- The public preview of links you copy, if Fetch Rich Link Previews is on
- An anonymous installation ID and the app version, to check your trial and licence
- A daily request for the update feed
