Install Maclip

Maclip is a regular Mac app distributed from this website rather than the App Store. It is signed and notarized by Apple, so it opens without security warnings.

Install

  1. Download Maclip from this website.
  2. Open the downloaded Maclip.dmg.
  3. Drag Maclip onto the Applications folder in the window that appears.
  4. Eject the disk image, then open Maclip from Applications or with Spotlight.

First launch

A short welcome takes you through three things: granting Accessibility access so Maclip can paste for you, choosing how much history to keep (from 100 clips to unlimited), and starting your 3-day free trial or activating a licence you already own.

Where Maclip lives

Maclip is a menu bar app with no Dock icon. Look for the paperclip at the top right of your screen. Click it for the popover, or press ⌘⇧V in any app to open your history at the text cursor.
