Write with AI uses Apple Intelligence on your Mac. When the menu is greyed out, the reason is shown next to it.

The reasons, and what to do

| This Mac doesn't support Apple Intelligence. | Apple Intelligence needs a Mac with Apple silicon (M1 or later). |
| Turn on Apple Intelligence in System Settings to use this. | Open System Settings → Apple Intelligence & Siri and turn it on. |
| Apple Intelligence is still getting ready. | macOS is downloading the model. Try again in a few minutes. |
- The menu is also greyed out while the clip's text is empty or an action is running.
- Clips over about 6,000 characters show “This clip is too long”. Shorten the text first, or split it.
