Never lose anything you
copy
on your Mac.

The clipboard manager that opens at your cursor. Paste several clips in one go, paste plain text into any app, and let AI apps use your history only when you say yes. Encrypted on your Mac, paid for once.

Free for 7 days, no card needed. Then normally $19.99 $6.49 once at launch price.

  • macOS 13+
  • Encrypted on-device
  • No subscriptions

Three keys, and nothing you copy is lost

  1. 01

    Copy

Like always. Maclip saves it the moment it lands, encrypted, on your Mac.

  2. 02

    Summon

Wherever you're typing. Your whole history opens right at the cursor.

  3. 03

    Paste

Pick a clip and press Return. Or ⇧↵ to drop the formatting.

Inside the app

Everything you copy, one keystroke away.

Watch each feature work. Native Swift, light on memory, and nothing leaves your Mac.

Every way into the same history.

Your history opens where you're typing.

No switching apps, no hunting for a window. The panel appears at the text caret in whatever app you are in.

The rest of what it does.

  • Your keys, your way

Pick a shortcut or record your own. Maclip warns you if macOS or another app already uses it, and Restore Default undoes it.

  • Hidden on screen share

Turn it on and Maclip's windows stay out of Zoom, Meet and Teams while you share your screen.

  • Incognito Mode

Pause capture for 15 minutes, an hour, until tomorrow, or until you say so.

  • Ignored apps

Exclude your bank, your work chat, anything. Their copies are never saved, and snippets stay off in them.

  • Passwords skipped

1Password, Bitwarden and anything marked concealed never touch your history.

  • Secrets purged

Detected API keys and tokens can delete themselves after minutes or hours.

  • Erase by app

Clips copied in your bank or work chat can erase themselves after a minute, an hour or a week.

  • Preview before you paste

Press ⌘Y in the ⌘⇧V panel to see the whole clip: the full screenshot, highlighted code, the colour or every line.

  • Link previews

Copied links show the page's title and image. Turn it off and they don't.

  • History by count or by age

Keep 100 clips to unlimited, and for 1 day to 1 year. Pinned clips and boards are always kept.

  • Light and dark

Follows your system appearance, or pick one.

  • Clipboard analytics

What you copy most, from which apps, and when.

Built for how you work.

Copy the next thing without losing the last.

  • Commands, stack traces and API responses stay searchable. Type code and it becomes a filter
  • Prettify JSON and decode Base64 before it lands in your editor
  • Plain text into Terminal every time, with a paste rule
  • Claude and Cursor can search your clips, only after you approve

Built for speed.
Designed for privacy.

A native macOS app built with Swift and SwiftUI. Your clipboard history is encrypted with AES-GCM-256 and stored only on your Mac — the key never leaves your login Keychain. Password managers are ignored automatically, and Incognito Mode pauses capture whenever you want.

Encrypted on-device

AES-GCM-256, with the key in your Keychain. Clips are never uploaded.

Ignores sensitive apps

Automatically excludes 1Password, Bitwarden, Keychain and concealed fields.

Rich link previews

Copied links show their real preview card. Prefer no requests? Turn it off and previews come from the URL alone.

Questions, answered.

How the 7-day trial and your licence work, what Maclip keeps private, and how it fits into your Mac.

Buying & licensing

  • Maclip is a one-time purchase, not a subscription. It's $6.49 right now at launch pricing, which rises in steps as copies sell, up to the regular $19.99; the pricing section shows how many are left at this price. The lifetime licence covers up to 2 Macs you own and every future update. There is no free tier, but there is a 7-day trial with every feature and no credit card required.

  • When you download and launch Maclip you get full, unrestricted access to every feature for 7 days. No credit card, account creation or sign-up is required.

  • After checkout, your license key is sent directly to your email address by Dodo Payments (noreply@dodopayments.com) — it will not be displayed on screen. Once you find the email in your inbox (or spam folder), open Maclip Settings → License, enter your key, and you're unlocked forever.

  • Because Maclip includes a 7-day unrestricted free trial with all features enabled and no credit card required, all sales are final. We encourage everyone to take full advantage of the trial period to explore Maclip and make sure it fits their workflow before choosing to purchase.

  • License key emails are sent automatically by Dodo Payments (noreply@dodopayments.com) right after payment. Please check your spam, junk, or promotions folder. If you still cannot locate it, or if you might have entered your email address with a typo at checkout, send a message to hello@maclip.cc and we'll gladly retrieve your key for you.

  • Nothing is deleted. Maclip stops recording new clips, but your existing history stays on your Mac and you can still search it and copy from it. Buying a licence resumes capture where it left off.

  • A single Maclip license covers up to 2 Macs that you own. If you activate a 3rd Mac, the licence is moved off your oldest Mac automatically and that Mac is told why the next time it checks in.

Privacy & safety

  • No. Your clipboard history is encrypted with AES-GCM-256 and stored only on your Mac — the key lives in your login Keychain and never leaves the device. Maclip never uploads your clips. When you copy a link it fetches that page's public preview — title and image — like iMessage does; you can turn that off in Settings and previews are then built from the URL alone. It automatically ignores 1Password, Bitwarden, Apple Keychain and concealed items, and Incognito Mode pauses capture entirely. The only thing Maclip sends to our servers is an anonymous installation ID used to validate your license and trial, plus your message if you choose to send feedback.

  • Yes. When you copy a link, Maclip strips tracking parameters such as utm_source, fbclid and gclid, on the clipboard itself, so ⌘V pastes the clean link. Parameters a link needs, like a search query or a video's start time, are kept exactly as they were. It happens on your Mac and can be turned off in Settings → Privacy.

  • Only if you turn it on, and only with your approval each time. Maclip runs a local MCP server on your Mac. When an AI app asks for clips, Maclip shows exactly what it wants and waits for Allow Once, Allow for 1 Hour or Deny. Changes, such as saving or pinning a clip, always need your approval, even inside an hour you allowed; deleted clips go to Trash where you can restore them. Clips detected as passwords, API keys or tokens are never shared, and every request is kept in an encrypted log.

  • Yes — Incognito Mode pauses capture entirely, for 15 minutes, an hour, until tomorrow, or until you switch it back on. You can also exclude specific apps so Maclip never records anything copied in them, and password managers such as 1Password and Bitwarden are excluded automatically along with any field an app marks as concealed.

  • Only if you turn it on. Spotlight indexing is off by default, because publishing clip text to Spotlight makes it readable by the rest of macOS. You can enable it in Settings → Privacy & Security, and even then Maclip keeps clips it detects as API keys, tokens or private keys out of the index.

  • Not if you turn on Hide Maclip from screen sharing in Settings → Privacy. Maclip's windows then stay out of screen sharing in Zoom, Google Meet and Microsoft Teams. While it's on, macOS also leaves Maclip out of screenshots, and some screen recorders may still show it, so it's off by default.

  • Your clipboard history is encrypted with a key held in that Mac's Keychain, so it cannot be read from anywhere else — including by us. There is no cloud backup, so a reinstall starts with an empty history. Your licence is separate: enter your key again and the Mac is reactivated.

Using Maclip

  • Yes. Every update is free for the life of your licence. Maclip checks for a new version once a day and asks before installing it, and every update is signed and verified before it runs. You can also check any time from Check for Updates… in the Maclip menu. The What's new page lists what changed in each release.

  • Yes. Turn on Smart for any board and give it rules, such as links from github.com, screenshots from the past week, or anything containing an email address or phone number. Every matching clip in your history shows up on it, without being moved, and clips you added by hand stay. You can also save any search as a smart board and open it as a tab in the ⌘⇧V panel. Smart boards work entirely on your Mac.

  • It depends on how you work. Maclip is built for people who paste a lot: history at the cursor with ⌘⇧V, paste stacks, snippets, plain text per app and AI access you approve, all encrypted on one Mac and paid for once. Paste suits people who want their clipboard on iPhone and iPad too, Maccy is free and open source, and Raycast or Alfred make sense if you already live in a launcher. Our comparison at maclip.cc/guides/best-clipboard-manager-mac covers each one, with facts taken from their own websites.

  • Only a little. Until macOS 26 Tahoe the Mac clipboard held just the last thing you copied. Tahoe adds a short history in Spotlight: press ⌘Space, then ⌘4, and items are kept for 30 minutes, 8 hours or 7 days. A clipboard manager like Maclip keeps everything you copy, for as long as you choose, with search, and opens it at your cursor with ⌘⇧V.

  • Press Option-Shift-Command-V (⌥⇧⌘V), Paste and Match Style, in most Mac apps; Google Docs, Gmail, Slack and Notion use Shift-Command-V. With Maclip, press ⇧↵ in the ⌘⇧V panel to paste any clip as plain text in any app, or set an app rule so every paste into Slack or Terminal is plain text automatically.

  • Text, links, code, colours, images and files you copy. Each clip keeps its formatting, so pasting back into a document preserves styling — and ⇧↵ pastes it as plain text when you don't want that. Images are OCR'd on-device so you can search the text inside a screenshot. Maclip does not read anything you have not copied.

  • Yes. Create a snippet with an abbreviation such as ;addr and it expands as you type it in any app. Snippets can include today's date, the time, your clipboard, and where the cursor should end up. Password fields and password managers are always skipped.

  • Yes. Open any text clip, choose Write with AI and pick Fix Spelling & Grammar, Summarise, Make Shorter, Make Professional, Make Friendly or Turn into Bullet Points. It runs on your Mac with Apple Intelligence, so the text never leaves it, and nothing changes until you review the result and click Save. It needs macOS 26 on a Mac that supports Apple Intelligence.

  • Yes. Right-click a clip and choose Rename… to give it a title like “Home address”. It shows by that name in the ⌘⇧V panel, the menu bar and the dashboard, and search finds it. Choose Edit… to change the text of a text, code, link or colour clip; smart quotes and auto-correct stay off so code isn't changed behind your back.

  • Yes. In Settings → Keyboard Shortcuts, each shortcut has a menu of common choices, None, Restore Default and Custom…. Custom… lets you press any combination, and Maclip warns you if another Maclip action, macOS or another app already uses it before you save.

  • Yes. Maclip exposes actions to the Shortcuts app — Get Recent Clips, Search Clips, Copy Clip, Save to Maclip, Set Incognito Mode and Clear History — so you can build automations, and reach them from Raycast or Alfred too. Search covers both the words in a clip and its meaning, computed on your Mac.

  • Maclip is built with native Swift and SwiftUI and runs on macOS 13 or later, on both Apple Silicon and Intel Macs.
